Amaze-balls! I already own a million different black liners from competitors. This liner blows those other fools out of the water! It's so rich, velvety and smooth. The color is hard to describe but I will try. it's smokey black, truly like velvet. I like to panda smudge this and use UD's shadow, Zero, to set it and give it some extra smokiness. This product is sexy! I love everything about it. It's easy to apply, doesn't break like other cheapy liners and the color payoff is great! You won't find yourself lining it over and over to get the results you need. I'd recommend this to any newbies trying to achieve that smokey look without the fuss and muss of black shadow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Rozberry Too dry and very flaky
I got a free sample (black) with my last order and was excited to try it because I'm such a fan of the perversion liner. Unfortunately I'm very disappointed in this liner. It dragged across my eyelid leaving very little colour behind and I found it was flaking off leaving specks in my eyelashes which transferred into my eye, and I found many flakes under my eyes. I tried repeatedly to line my eyes with it but found I had to press very hard and draw across the same area over and over which resulted in a patchy and overly thick line which was not a good look. It didn't really hurt but my eyes were definitely red and irritated when I removed it.

Love this eyeliner! The black is somehow more sooty and more matte than the regular 24/7 liners. I'm not mad that it only comes in black, because this sexy, smoky formula is really meant to be smudged and sexy as only black can be. I got a small pencil in my Ipsy bag, but when that runs out I will for sure buy another one. I absolutely love it!
BTW, my fave way to use it is to line and then follow with a small smudging brush to smoke it out. It's also a great way to add a hint of color--dip the brush in shadow and then work it over and into the liner. It'll be a sexy dark eye with a hint of color.

by PaintedLady Good Rich Color But Too Dry
I was happy to see that Ipsy included this in my sample bag. I never tried Urban Decay products before so I was eager to try this new eyeliner. I got the Black Velvet color.
I liked how smooth and rich the lines were after applying the liner to my right eye first. During application to my other eye, the tip of the pencil crumbled off, and I had to use my sharpener to get another point. After this it seemed liked the liner was too dry, and I had to really press down on my eye lid to get it to stick. I heard that using a lighter to heat the tip will soften the liner. This did help a bit and I was able to finish.
So I wasn't too impressed by this product, and I think that I will not be purchasing the full-size version. I do want to try other Urban Decay eye liners, though. I have heard that the Perversion liner is wonderful.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Glenda Third time not so much a charm.
I received from Ipsy bag the 24/7 Velvet pencil in Plushie. Great color, went in very smooth and smudged well when needed. I did find this producr hard to sharpen. Finally, I tried the product three times and something in it irritates my eyes by the next morning. I was hoping the first time it was just me but I gave it 2 more chances and still the same affect. I washed my face and the eyeliner off my eyes and by the middle of the night they were gooey, crusty and tearing up each time I used it. I have never had a reaction to any eye make up before so I found this very unusual. Overall kind of bummed.

I was so excited to receive a travel sized Black Velvet with my purchase a while back! I'm running out of Zero, so I thought that I was lucky to receive this as a replacement. I was soooo lucky! This pencil is so creamy and smooth, and in my opinion, better than the other black liners! I love smudging my eyeliner when I'm in a rush in the morning so I don't have to worry about perfect, straight, even lines and such. This pencil is PERFECT for smudging! I noticed that Zero had a little trouble and I had to help it out by using more product, but with Black Velvet, you only need one line and that's it! I'm definitely purchasing this in a full size when I run out because it's perfect for my preferences. If you're a smokey eye kinda girl- you will fall in love with Black Velvet! Just do yourself a favor and buy it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by ElectrikxEyes Perfect for smokey eyes!!
I recieved this as a sample with an order, and I honestly wasn't that excited about trying it. I have the 24/7 pencil in Perversion and Zero, why did I need another black pencil?
Then I tried it. Oh my gosh. Velvet is the perfect name for it. It doesn't have that super dense blackness that Perversion has, but it's definitely black. You glide it on, and instant hot smokiness. Like all UD pencils, it's so versatile for a casual look or for a super sultry look. You get that perfect smudgy look without worrying about it smearing too far. I forgot to take off my makeup the other night (oops!!) and it still held that perfect smudge when I woke up.
As a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes, black liners can be hard and sometimes Perversion can be too much. This one is definitely black, but it's not harsh at all. Writing this review is just making me want to go redo my makeup just so I can use this pencil again and be amazed by its perfect instant smokiness.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Orfinalj Not on par with UD's quality
I received this as a sample through my ipsy bag, and was extremely excited to try out the new UD product. However, I would say the product isn't quite as smooth or velvety as advertised. The tip of the pencil broke off as I was lining my eyes for a smokey eye look.
I also own UD's Perversion Pencil, which I love, so naturally I am comparing the two products with each other. I found this pencil to be chalkier and not quite as black as Perversion. I would recommend purchase the Perversion over this if you are looking for a smooth and blackest black eye pencil.
