This is a palette for every girl! The Mariposa palette is great for every girl, no matter the age! It has a great selection of neutrals and still has a couple of bold colors as well. The eyeshadows are so pigmented, it's ridiculous! And they blend for days. I have had great, long-lasting looks with this palette, and I tell everyone when I'm wearing my famous UD. And for this price, you just can't go wrong! In the picture showed, I am wearing mostly Haight with a little Gunmetal in the outer corner. I used Spotlight as a blending/transition color and used Skimp as the highlight. I also used my UD Stardust shadow in Bobby Dazzle to brighten the inner corner. I absolutely love this look! another great palette! Love this palette! beautiful spectrum of colors, the brush is great. I like blending multiple colors on my lid with this palette. Gonna last me a long time! February 7, 2013
Beautiful Colors I am a make–up newbie, but I had purchased the Black Palette from UD before, and was extremely satisfied with the product, so I decided to go ahead and buy this one. I was struck by the colors in this palette, because they looked vibrant, but with slightly understated tones. The colors are just what you imagine them to be, and although I underestimated the shimmer, I absolutely love this palette. I love the colors that they chose for this palette, and it's easy to group them together to create a cohesive look. I also love most of the colors are almost subtle, so I can create a look that's not too overwhelming for a newbie like me. March 7, 2013
Best palette from UD!!! I LOVE these colors!!! This is the first time I am in love with UD's palette and I'm looking forward to more!! There is a variety of colors, and they are nice and soft. I don't like crazy colors or boring palettes, so this is perfect!! I bought it for Gunmetal but this has introduced me to other colors that are great. The only thing, I wish there were a bit more generous portions of colors, it seems they are small... but it doesn't matter because the colors are soo pretty, still worth the palette. I really recommend, there is a range of colors for everyday looks. Gorgeous!!! February 8, 2013
Makes Your Eyes Pop When I put thi on my eyes I seriously feel a lot younger. It makes my eyes pop with color and I absolutely love that. I use just about every color and you can blend them very well. This was my first palette and I fell In love with it in an instant. March 5, 2013
La Mariposa Palette is to Love If you are a makeup beginner, this is the palette to go. It come with nice tone down colors so it wont scare you off and a nice small eyeshadow brush. Its the size of a hand so its travel friendly. The colors are pigmented so thats great. Good quality in my opinion and the case is so beautiful. Must say my fav from this palette is Haight and Rockstar such nice colors. I approve :) February 7, 2013
Great palette for anyone that loves makeup I own this UD palette along with several others by UD; I ordered the Smoked palette today in fact. The colors in this palette are fantastic for creating any kind of look you are in the mood for. Haight is an awesome blue shade, Rockstar and Infamous are great purple/pink shades for a fun look, Mushroom and Gunmetal are great grey shades for creating a smokey eye, Skimp is an absolutely beautiful highlighter. Wreckage, Limelight and Spotlight are great neutrals for a more subtle eye. Money is a lighter green shade and although it is beautiful I haven't quite found the right shadow combo to use it. My only qualms with this palette are; there is no mirror included, but mainly that it is not very user friendly. When I opened it up the first time the shadow pots were pushed in so far they almost fell through the slots. I am considering removing the pots from the palette but first I need to find a better "home" for them. The brush is small but functional. Despite those 2 issues I would definitely recommend this palette to anyone that likes makeup. February 10, 2013
Travel-Friendly, Easy to Use, Great Colors! The Mariposa palette is a great collection of nearly-full-sized (0.03 oz instead of 0.05 oz) shadows, all shimmer or light glitter, that are colorful and go well together. Although the palette is not "new" in that it was once a Sephora-exclusive holiday palette during the 2011 season, it is new to the website and discounted nicely to make it an attractive buy. I see this as the perfect "touch up your makeup" palette to take a basic daytime look and enhance it with color and shimmer for a smoking hot after-hours look. There are no mattes or basic black, just shimmer shades for lid and outer corner. However, there is a lot of variety, including neutral shimmers that can act as a base for brighter colors or be worn by themselves. My only complaint here - no mirror in the palette, which means you need to use another mirror to get your sexy on. A minor detail, but worth noting. Other than that, the packaging is gorgeous! It's compact, slimline, and features lovely purple butterfly motif. The tin is embossed with a butterfly and has a similar feel to the Naked 2 tin, but is slightly more difficult to open (you need to slide the base back and down to pop it open). The tin is set in a cardstock printed case that I will probably turn into a shadowbox display of some sort - it's that appealing by itself! When you open the tin, the 10 shadows are set into the same purple butterfly background, along with a mini shadow brush. On to the colors.... Rockstar, from the UD <3 NYC palette, is a great deep eggplant color, and has a truer aubergine color in this palette than the original. Gunmetal, famously from the Naked 1 palette, is less blue and more gray-silver here, staying truer to its gunmetal namesake. Skimp is a satin, very light, and very bright - it's the perfect brow and inner corner highlight color for warm tones, but it works equally well with cool tones. Infamous - I was less pleased with this one. It looks like Woodstock in the pan, but is more of a fuscia color, and not very pigmented. It builds nicely, though. Wreckage is a highly pigmented, warm shimmer brown. I would say this could be a crease color, but it's metallic finish is too bold for the crease. It does well in the outer corner, though. Haight, another recycled color, is electric blue and well pigmented. Money is a pretty pale sage, but doesn't have much color payoff and seems a bit out of place in this palette of bold colors. Still, it would make a good highlight or all-over lid color for lighter looks. Mushroom, a favorite, is a perfect taupe gray/brown with lots of pigment and staying power. This is a good lid color or outer corner color. That just leaves Spotlight and Limelight, two sister colors that have similar color payoff and finish, but are cool and warm toned, respectively. Spotlight is champagne and Limelight is a goldy gold. Limelight gets compared to Half Baked quite a bit, because the color looks so similar. However, for anyone who is turned off by the brassiness of Half Baked, give Limelight a try - it is a true gold color that looks warm and glamorous, not overdone. It has some micro-glitter, as well, which catches the light beautifully. This is a rich, playful shade that I like quite a lot. Spotlight doesn't have quite the color impact, but it has a luminous transparency to it that I like, and I am a sucker for champagne colors. Because this palette has so many reprisals of tried-and-true UD favorites, the question is -- is it worth the purchase? It depends on how you see its value... it's a sampler for those wishing an introduction to UD colors, it's a great purse accessory for on-the-go makeovers, and it's versatile for those wanting variety without having to carry a larger palette or several singles. I have a huge UD collection and I still wanted this palette because I love the idea of a mini sampler and a mini brush that can go with me when I need to update my look, travel, or want a party look within easy reach (i.e. not having to go to several different palettes to get the colors I want). Now the cons, and all of these (in my mind) have to do with the packaging. First, the case shows scratches much more readily than the Naked 2 tin does. In comparing the two, the Naked 2 case seems to have an additional finish that the Mariposa tin does not. If you must have a pristine palette, this will need to be a vanity palette only, as it will get scratched in a purse or bag Personally, I don't care as long as I can keep it clean, and it does wipe down easily on the outside. On the inside, the stiff cardstock base in the tin looks great, but if you like to clean your makeup regularly like me, it's the one gotcha in an otherwise fine packaging idea. I can't just wipe this down or spray it with alcohol without risking damage to the paper. Oops. I don't know that this will be such a big deal, though, as I will probably get through these shadows a lot quicker than I do in other full-size palettes. We'll see. It's a minor detail, but it's worth mentioning. I usually give UD palettes five stars, but this one gets four only because of these issues with the packaging and the missing mirror. Overall, the Mariposa palette is an entirely enjoyable set of shadows that I am thrilled to have at my disposal. It has some old favorites and some new ones, too! I am in love with Limelight and Spotlight and love how portable the palette is. I'll be enjoying this one for a while! February 13, 2013
