Good product. I bought this product a few weeks ago, and it's pretty good. The only concerns I have is that the powder is very light and made my foundation lighter on my face than my neck. I'm 17 and my skin is usually not very oily, but I took this on the airplane to use in case I DID get oily, and I didn't even need it after 1 application! It sure does its job. I think the packaging is really, really adorable and the mirror always stays clean. I don't like using the puffs that come with makeup, so I use my normal fluffy brush. All around a pretty great product. :) August 1, 2012
An average product. The product itself works pretty good. It's a little hard to get the product on the brush. You really have to work to get it on there but it once you get it on your face it does give you a matte effect. I'm not super oily but I love a matte face. I do get shiny in certain spots on my face and it takes that away but I have noticed I do need to reapply this product throughout the day. I had high hopes for this product and was a little disappointed. but I did find something better and cheaper. I use the MAC prep & prime transparent pressed powder. It works a lot better and it's cheaper.... September 27, 2012
Effective Product, Powder Cracks Easily This is a great product as long as you are VERY careful handling the compact. I only had my compact for about a month before the powder cracked. (I keep in in my purse for on-the-go touch ups.) Once the powder cracked, it no longer held itself in the compact and spilled out whenever I tried to use it. I will not purchase again due the the lack of structural robustness. Other than that, it is a great product. If the compact were more robust and didn't crack as easily, I would recommend this product. It just seems like a waste of money to have to throw out such an expensive compact because it breaks so easily. March 15, 2012
Matte is Fabulous This was the first product that I ever bought from Urban Decay. Actually, it was the first high end product that I ever bought. Needless to say, I love it. I'm one of those people that loves a matte finish on my face, it just feels more glamorous to me- think 1940s. The De-slick powder does just that, and it lasts for hours, with only a few touch ups here and there. And, as an added bonus, the packaging is adorable- skulls are always a win for me. I would buy this product again in a heart beat, especially since I'm already scraping the bottom on the pan. July 27, 2011
Recommended by a friend I was out on a girl's night, and before hitting the club, one of my friends was using this to blot her face. I am not normally a fan of using blotting powders because they're heavier to carry around than blotting sheets, and I would rather feel like the oil is being removed from my face instead of just being concealed and left on my face. However, when going out, I don't want to risk my make up coming off with my blotting sheets. My friend told me about this product and I picked it up from the counter soon after. And I was in LOVE. I used this powder all the time to set my foundation and then to touch up throughout the day whenever I got shiny from my oily skin. Sometimes I'd have to apply more often than I would have liked, but it was worth it. My love affair with de-slick ended sooner than I would have liked, as my powder broke on my way back from studying abroad in Korea (it's a very soft powder). It lasted me the whole time I was there, though, and gave me a lot of great-looking memories. One thing I shouldn't forget to mention, though: while I was in Korea, I had to endure extremely hot summer weather. I left the compact's puff (the very thin one with the purple plastic backing) on my desk after rushing to apply my make up and after coming back to my apartment from class 2 hours later, it had melted all over my desk! So if you live in a very hot area, I would recommend keeping your product in a cool area. February 4, 2012
Great for average skin types, but not so much for OILY skin types I tried this product based off other reviewers who considered themselves to have overly oily skin. After using this product, I'm pretty sure that most of those people who think they have overly oily skin, are probably closer to having average skin. With that said, my review is based off myself having what I would consider overly oily skin--my skin is oily to the touch 2 hours after cleaning/makeup application (I can easily fill 2 oil blotting sheets after 2 hours). Though I noticed a little bit of a delay of the onset of oil on my face after applying this with my makeup, it wasn't miraculous, so the cost versus effectiveness for me isn't really worth it. Applying it throughout the day did take the shine away but I still felt quite oily. If a person is closer to average or slightly oily skin, this product probably works really really well, but I would pass on this product if you truly have overly oily skin. I plan on trying the De-slick in the tube next for comparison, and hopefully get better results! November 6, 2011
AWESOME! I just love the whole package! I've read other reviews with complaints of the packaging...I think the compact is simply beautiful! I carry I decent size purse (normally) so it isn't too large for me (plus, means you get more product for your buck!) It keeps my skin so nicely matte! Combined with the De-slick Gel in a Tube, what a combo for those of us with skin like oil wells! I feel like a normal person when I go out these days! I love it, but... I have oily, very fair skin, so the De-Slick powder is wonderful - it gives a soft matte finish without being cakey. The compact is very pretty and portable. The pale lavender-ish shade looks great with my skin tone; I like an almost Gothic pallor and this delivers without going overboard, although I'm not sure how it would work on darker skin tones. There are two things that keep me from giving De-Slick Powder a 5-star rating. First and foremost is the price - it's very expensive, especially for something I use several times a day and which subsequently needs replacement fairly often. The second is the scent, which reminds me of a health food store where I worked years ago. It's stronger than it should be, and that could be a problem for anyone with scent sensitivities. Would I recommend this product? Yes, definitely, but with the above caveats. February 26, 2012
Better for Lighter Skin Than Mine It kind of washes me out. I have very warm toned Asian yellow skin, and putting this on makes me look a bit ghostly. It does the job and clears up the oil ... but I'm not a fan of looking ghostly. I prefer using the tube version to spot mattify through the day instead, and using the deslick setting spray to set initially. :) August 30, 2011
De-slick did exactly what I hoped it would I've tried tons of powders and while they all worked to some degree, usually after an hour or 2 the shine start to come back..by mid day my powder/makeup has oxidized to some really unflattering orange shade, and by the end of the day, I look as though I've smeared Crisco on my face. De-slick keeps everything matte, true to color and shine free all day. Even in the ugly, southern humidity I have to endure during the summer. That in itself is worth the money. The only complaint I have is that I wish there was a little more product..Seems to go quickly August 7, 2012
Shuts Down the Shine On Urban Decay's De-Slick Powder Compact: I got this powder recently, as I had been wanting to try it for a while now, and I must say that I am duly impressed by it. The day that I used it for the first time, I was so shiny and oily that I wondered if the De-Slick would even work. I blotted my face with a couple of blotting papers, then used a mini powder brush to apply the De-Slick, and wow! De-Slick really does shut down the shine! My face was perfectly matte, looked super smooth, and felt clean without feeling overly dry. The powder had great lasting power, too. I am going to use this as my go-to powder from now on; thank you, Urban Decay, for something so effective against oil. January 1, 2013
A must have if your skin is oily!! This powder does miracles if you have oily skin, I have never seen anything better than this after all I tried, the moment you put this on wether it is on your t zone or full face it goes on soft and matte making your skin look gorgeous. I am totally loving this, since my skin in oily and I live in a hot city, I can't leave home without this, it stays on all day and your skin stays soft and beautiful. Absolutely recommend this. The packaging is also very cute and the sponge is helpful but I prefer using a powder brush. Great on every skin tone too, So glad I got this and never leave home without it!!! March 6, 2013
A mommy's must-have! As a busy mother, I don't have time to stop throughout the day and fix my makeup as much as I should have been doing. I have oily skin, and within a few hours my T-Zone would be an oil slick. I have been using this product for two years and I must say, it is a lifesaver! I dust it on after all of my makeup is done and it keeps me matte for at least 9 hours! I used to carry it around in my purse but the powder broke almost immediately. Definitely worth the money! I have combination skin (oily in the T-zone, dry on the cheeks) and had searched for several months trying to find a powder that would keep the oil at bay without altering the look of my makeup. I tried this for the first time and haven't looked back since then! I live in a humid climate, so during the summer my face pretty much stays oily all the time. I apply my foundation, then apply this powder as kind of a setting for the foundation. I then apply the rest of my makeup. Once this settles onto your skin, you can't even tell it's there. I usually reapply a layer about midway through my day just to keep oil in check. I use a brush to apply the powder, rather than the sponge that is included, as I have found that using a brush allows for a more subtle (but just as effective) look. This powder does not irritate my (annoyingly) sensitive skin, and doesn't clog my pores. July 26, 2011
Amazing Stuff! My roommate used her De-Slick after one of our dance performance and I was amazed instantly how mattified her skin looked after using it. I was hesitant at first in investing in De-Slick since my skin is combination with a semi-oily t-zone and I've always had issues with finding a powder that will absorb the excess oil without drying out my skin. But I decided to try it anyway and De-Slick definitely works! April 27, 2012
A Favorite Product I get really oily in my t-zone during the day and when I use this, my skin stays matte. I really like that it has no color in it because I can use it under makeup or by itself without worrying about whether it matches my skin tone. I like to use it on days when I'm going without makeup because it gives me a nice, matte finish without the look of a powder foundation. The fact that it has tea tree oil in it is also a plus because it's good for your skin. No other powder I have used has kept my skin from getting shiny as long as this one does. If You have Oily skin...... THIS IS YOUR LIFE SAVER!!!! This product is the BEST out of all the mattifying powders i own. It does keep your skin from not getting oily. and my skin is super Oily and i would always have to use blotting sheets through out the day and i hated it because i did it like 10 times through out the day. De-Slick I have really oily skin in the summer, but if I have to keep touching up, I look like I have really caked on the powder. I discovered this and it is always in my bag in the summer. It really helps my face cosmetics stay in place without sliding all over. It doesn't cake up because I don't have to continue to touch up. Don't let the universal shade scare you off, it doesn't effect the color of your facial cosmetics in any way. The finish is really nice, it doesn't create such a matte look that it looks fake, it makes for a nice finish without looking like you used a ton of product, and you don't have to use a lot of this. I apply it with a brush, that works best for me, and it is really easy to work with. March 6, 2013
I am more sad than disappointed :( As far as the actual product itself doing what it's supposed to do I have nothing negative to say what so ever. The packaging of the product is what disappointed me. Not the actual look, but the quality. I bought this product about a month ago. I only used it about four or five times. I only wear makeup on the weekends because I can't at work. :( Like I said the product itself works wonderfully, BUT...I got it out to use it. I put a little on, and when I closed it there was no clicking sound to show it closed right. I lifted the lid, and it came right open as I suspected. While open, because it had to be, I turned it on it's side to see if the little plastic part that clicks it shut was broken off, and the entire circle of powder fell right out onto the floor and broke into tiny little pieces. This product is not the cheapest thing to buy. Not only would the compact not close for some reason, but now all my powder is gone after only a couple of uses. :( Like I said...more sad than disappointed. May 18, 2012
A wonderful product. This is one of the first UD products I purchased. I had been looking and debating between a few of translucent powders and then decided on this one. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. My T-zone gets very oily, and this has let me deal with that and keep my makeup looking fresh all day without growing cakey. And it comes in a purple compact. De-Slick is perfect for oily and combiantion skin types!!! even in a very hot and humid climate!!! This lightweight powder blots oil and stops shine. I wear it on bare skin when I go to workout and it works perfectly. after a very intese workout my skin looks very nice, without any shine. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!! I also apply it over my foundation, and it help to set my makeup and it controls my shine and oil without drying my skin, in addition it prolongs my makeup wear. I barely need "touch-ups" throughout the day now, after I ordered this product. I just love it and I recommend it if you are tired of a shiny face. I was skeptical at first... So i had been eying the de-slick powder for some time now, i have very oily skin and i had tried numerous products but nothing seemed to work. I have SUPER oily skin.... BUT When I use this stuff, it completely gets rid of all my excess oil & makes me feel clean and fresh for HOURS, I mostly just put on some concealer on my couple red spots and then put the powder on and I'm all good! But it works really well on top of make up too! The packaging is beautiful too, my only gripe with the product would be the incredibly thin pad that comes with it, but that's just a minor over sight, considering that it IS used to blot mostly. I absolutely LOVE this stuff, it's SO much better then the oil blotting sheets I was using before. Also, even for it being a white color, it doesn't appear white on my skin when I use it, and if it does anywhere, I just apply a little powder foundation on top & I'm all set! November 22, 2011
a must for oily skin! One of the best products out there for oily skin! Yes - it is expensive, but worth it for the ease of everyday use! The fact that you can use it on bare skin giving you that matte look with no makeup is amazing! I rarely wear foundation-so this is great to look made up without putting anything on! Good product overall Now, I have extremely oily skin, so I wasn't expecting some kind of miracle product to leave my face matte all day. But, I will say of the mattifying products/powders I have tried, this one does the job best. I use this after applying my make-up at 6 AM and I start getting oily probably around 2? That's a big deal for me b/c sometimes I will be using those blotting papers by 10AM if I don't use this product. Yes, I know this isn't the most inexpensive product out there, but I do believe it will last a long time since you don't need to use very much product. February 15, 2012
High quality compact for touch-ups When I bought this I didn't think I *needed* it but I wanted to try it, and it turns out I really really like this product!! No regrets here. My skin isn't too oily, but it's fantastic for absorbing incidental oil throughout the day to stay matte and even. I use it at least 3 times per day. I like the smell - it's smells like rice powder, as it does contain that ingredient, which absorbs oil very well. The formula itself is a pressed powder that comes up very easily - not a pressed powder you need to apply much pressure to in order to get some onto the applicator. It comes with a thin thin poof that can sit between the mirror and the powder when its shut, so it's very portable. I have used a brush to apply it but I prefer the included poof - the powder is so soft that brush bristles pick up a little too much product for me. The compact is satisfyingly heavy in the hand - just the weight alone feels high quality (it's made of thick plastic and there's a mirror in the lid). I like that because I feel $30 is on the high end of my price range for a pressed powder, so I like to feel the weight of my money in my hand, haha. It's not so heavy that you'd notice it in your bag, though. It feels like there's a lot of product in there - I like that. My one complaint is that the compact opens no more than 90 degrees, and I wish it opened closer to 180 degrees. I end up holding the compact up higher in the air in order to see my whole face, so that's a bit annoying - for that I took two points off of ease of use. I will buy this product again when I'm through with my compact. Highly recommended! July 27, 2011

Works Great I love this product - it takes away the shine easily and helps control oil after you put it on (ie: I'm not reapplying every hour like some other products). Beautiful packaging. Don't put on too much - a little goes a long way - and if you do put too much on it looks chalky. Wish the price point was a little less - it took me a long time to talk myself into spending that much money for this, but once I did I haven't regretted it. February 15, 2012
Best so far While this product isn't perfect, it is definitely the leader for me in anything I've used to control oil. It DOES work. Apparently there are three main ways to use this: - On bare skin, no makeup - As a primer (between moisturizer and makeup) - On top of makeup (either at the start of the day or throughout) I can't comment on the first one, as I have not tried it on a bare face, but I can on the second two. As a primer, I did not necessarily feel it worked for me. I still had oil issues and ended up having to wear it on top anyway. I went back to using a makeup primer instead, and using this as a finisher. Saves you some product anyway :) Which leads me to the last way, which is to wear it on top the makeup. I apply it once in the mornings over my makeup (I wear a mineral foundation, very light, and beneath that I use both a moisturizer and a makeup primer). I find almost instantly it "sets" my makeup, and then the amount of oiliness I experience throughout the day is far less. I still sometimes need to blot, and will reapply this once in the afternoon, but it is much better than my old routine of having to reapply my powders 4-5 times per day...which as we all know doesn't actually control the oil anyway :P The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars: It's pretty good at oil control but I wouldn't say its perfect yet. I've seen other reviewers say it works better paired with the spray, but given the cost of this one, pairing them together is pretty much cost prohibitive....which is the second reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I tend to spend a lot of money on cosmetics, but this in particular seemed pretty expensive to me. In sum though, if you are looking for something to control oil, there is no magic wand- but this is close, and I DO recommend it. March 5, 2012

I dust it on after all of my makeup is done and it keeps me matte for at least 9 hours! I used to carry it around in my purse but the powder broke almost immediately. Definitely worth the money! I have combination skin (oily in the T-zone, dry on the cheeks) and had searched for several months trying to find a powder that would keep the oil at bay without altering the look of my makeup. I tried this for the first time and haven't looked back since then! I live in a humid climate, so during the summer my face pretty much stays oily all the time. I apply my foundation, then apply this powder as kind of a setting for the foundation. I then apply the rest of my makeup. Once this settles onto your skin, you can't even tell it's there. I usually reapply a layer about midway through my day just to keep oil in check. I use a brush to apply the powder, rather than the sponge that is included, as I have found that using a brush allows for a more subtle (but just as effective) look. This powder does not irritate my (annoyingly) sensitive skin, and doesn't clog my pores. July 26, 2011
Amazing Stuff! My roommate used her De-Slick after one of our dance performance and I was amazed instantly how mattified her skin looked after using it. I was hesitant at first in investing in De-Slick since my skin is combination with a semi-oily t-zone and I've always had issues with finding a powder that will absorb the excess oil without drying out my skin. But I decided to try it anyway and De-Slick definitely works! April 27, 2012
A Favorite Product I get really oily in my t-zone during the day and when I use this, my skin stays matte. I really like that it has no color in it because I can use it under makeup or by itself without worrying about whether it matches my skin tone. I like to use it on days when I'm going without makeup because it gives me a nice, matte finish without the look of a powder foundation. The fact that it has tea tree oil in it is also a plus because it's good for your skin. No other powder I have used has kept my skin from getting shiny as long as this one does. If You have Oily skin...... THIS IS YOUR LIFE SAVER!!!! This product is the BEST out of all the mattifying powders i own. It does keep your skin from not getting oily. and my skin is super Oily and i would always have to use blotting sheets through out the day and i hated it because i did it like 10 times through out the day. And with this powder IS MY MIRACLE because i don't even blot one time through out my day :D its the best !! very worth buying. April 26, 2012
De-Slick I have really oily skin in the summer, but if I have to keep touching up, I look like I have really caked on the powder. I discovered this and it is always in my bag in the summer. It really helps my face cosmetics stay in place without sliding all over. It doesn't cake up because I don't have to continue to touch up. Don't let the universal shade scare you off, it doesn't effect the color of your facial cosmetics in any way. The finish is really nice, it doesn't create such a matte look that it looks fake, it makes for a nice finish without looking like you used a ton of product, and you don't have to use a lot of this. I apply it with a brush, that works best for me, and it is really easy to work with. March 6, 2013
I am more sad than disappointed :( As far as the actual product itself doing what it's supposed to do I have nothing negative to say what so ever. The packaging of the product is what disappointed me. Not the actual look, but the quality. I bought this product about a month ago. I only used it about four or five times. I only wear makeup on the weekends because I can't at work. :( Like I said the product itself works wonderfully, BUT...I got it out to use it. I put a little on, and when I closed it there was no clicking sound to show it closed right. I lifted the lid, and it came right open as I suspected. While open, because it had to be, I turned it on it's side to see if the little plastic part that clicks it shut was broken off, and the entire circle of powder fell right out onto the floor and broke into tiny little pieces. This product is not the cheapest thing to buy. Not only would the compact not close for some reason, but now all my powder is gone after only a couple of uses. :( Like I said...more sad than disappointed. May 18, 2012
A wonderful product. This is one of the first UD products I purchased. I had been looking and debating between a few of translucent powders and then decided on this one. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. My T-zone gets very oily, and this has let me deal with that and keep my makeup looking fresh all day without growing cakey. And it comes in a purple compact. De-Slick is perfect for oily and combiantion skin types!!! even in a very hot and humid climate!!! This lightweight powder blots oil and stops shine. I wear it on bare skin when I go to workout and it works perfectly. after a very intese workout my skin looks very nice, without any shine. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!! I also apply it over my foundation, and it help to set my makeup and it controls my shine and oil without drying my skin, in addition it prolongs my makeup wear. I barely need "touch-ups" throughout the day now, after I ordered this product. I just love it and I recommend it if you are tired of a shiny face. I was skeptical at first... So i had been eying the de-slick powder for some time now, i have very oily skin and i had tried numerous products but nothing seemed to work. I read the reviews on this product and was convinced to buy it, so i did and i absolutely LOVE it! it does exactly what it says and i couldn't be happier with this product. May 14, 2012
I have SUPER oily skin.... BUT When I use this stuff, it completely gets rid of all my excess oil & makes me feel clean and fresh for HOURS, I mostly just put on some concealer on my couple red spots and then put the powder on and I'm all good! But it works really well on top of make up too! The packaging is beautiful too, my only gripe with the product would be the incredibly thin pad that comes with it, but that's just a minor over sight, considering that it IS used to blot mostly. I absolutely LOVE this stuff, it's SO much better then the oil blotting sheets I was using before. Also, even for it being a white color, it doesn't appear white on my skin when I use it, and if it does anywhere, I just apply a little powder foundation on top & I'm all set! November 22, 2011
a must for oily skin! One of the best products out there for oily skin! Yes - it is expensive, but worth it for the ease of everyday use! The fact that you can use it on bare skin giving you that matte look with no makeup is amazing! I rarely wear foundation-so this is great to look made up without putting anything on! Shine is gone - your skin looks lovely instead of a greasy mess! I am not fond of the thin puff - but just purchase my own puffs and use. Love this! April 23, 2012
Good product overall Now, I have extremely oily skin, so I wasn't expecting some kind of miracle product to leave my face matte all day. But, I will say of the mattifying products/powders I have tried, this one does the job best. I use this after applying my make-up at 6 AM and I start getting oily probably around 2? That's a big deal for me b/c sometimes I will be using those blotting papers by 10AM if I don't use this product. Yes, I know this isn't the most inexpensive product out there, but I do believe it will last a long time since you don't need to use very much product. February 15, 2012
High quality compact for touch-ups When I bought this I didn't think I *needed* it but I wanted to try it, and it turns out I really really like this product!! No regrets here. My skin isn't too oily, but it's fantastic for absorbing incidental oil throughout the day to stay matte and even. I use it at least 3 times per day. I like the smell - it's smells like rice powder, as it does contain that ingredient, which absorbs oil very well. The formula itself is a pressed powder that comes up very easily - not a pressed powder you need to apply much pressure to in order to get some onto the applicator. It comes with a thin thin poof that can sit between the mirror and the powder when its shut, so it's very portable. I have used a brush to apply it but I prefer the included poof - the powder is so soft that brush bristles pick up a little too much product for me. The compact is satisfyingly heavy in the hand - just the weight alone feels high quality (it's made of thick plastic and there's a mirror in the lid). I like that because I feel $30 is on the high end of my price range for a pressed powder, so I like to feel the weight of my money in my hand, haha. It's not so heavy that you'd notice it in your bag, though. It feels like there's a lot of product in there - I like that. My one complaint is that the compact opens no more than 90 degrees, and I wish it opened closer to 180 degrees. I end up holding the compact up higher in the air in order to see my whole face, so that's a bit annoying - for that I took two points off of ease of use. I will buy this product again when I'm through with my compact. Highly recommended! July 27, 2011

Works Great I love this product - it takes away the shine easily and helps control oil after you put it on (ie: I'm not reapplying every hour like some other products). Beautiful packaging. Don't put on too much - a little goes a long way - and if you do put too much on it looks chalky. Wish the price point was a little less - it took me a long time to talk myself into spending that much money for this, but once I did I haven't regretted it. February 15, 2012
Best so far While this product isn't perfect, it is definitely the leader for me in anything I've used to control oil. It DOES work. Apparently there are three main ways to use this: - On bare skin, no makeup - As a primer (between moisturizer and makeup) - On top of makeup (either at the start of the day or throughout) I can't comment on the first one, as I have not tried it on a bare face, but I can on the second two. As a primer, I did not necessarily feel it worked for me. I still had oil issues and ended up having to wear it on top anyway. I went back to using a makeup primer instead, and using this as a finisher. Saves you some product anyway :) Which leads me to the last way, which is to wear it on top the makeup. I apply it once in the mornings over my makeup (I wear a mineral foundation, very light, and beneath that I use both a moisturizer and a makeup primer). I find almost instantly it "sets" my makeup, and then the amount of oiliness I experience throughout the day is far less. I still sometimes need to blot, and will reapply this once in the afternoon, but it is much better than my old routine of having to reapply my powders 4-5 times per day...which as we all know doesn't actually control the oil anyway :P The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars: It's pretty good at oil control but I wouldn't say its perfect yet. I've seen other reviewers say it works better paired with the spray, but given the cost of this one, pairing them together is pretty much cost prohibitive....which is the second reason I didn't give it 5 stars. I tend to spend a lot of money on cosmetics, but this in particular seemed pretty expensive to me. In sum though, if you are looking for something to control oil, there is no magic wand- but this is close, and I DO recommend it. March 5, 2012
