Eyeshadow Primer Potion 4.8 5 5542 5542
Singing the praises of the original UDPP I have tried quite a few primers for eyeshadow, and I've got to say the original is hands down the best. There's a reason it's got such a cult following. My eyeshadow always pops the most when using this. It also creates a smooth surface so your eyeshadow doesn't look cakey or crepey, nor does it crease throughout the day. I also find that it lasts longer than most primers. I have ridiculously oily lids and deep sockets. Eyeshadow tends to melt off--literally--if I don't use a good primer. There are a couple different ones I've tried and that I like, but the original UDPP is the ONE for me. I only wish it somehow allowed my shadow to stick better in my socket line area, so when I close my eyes the shadow is still there. But I doubt anything could do that and it's really not that important, as long as the parts of my lids that are always showing stay in tact. Great product, UD! I love the new packaging, by the way! You get so much product for your money. Don't let the initial sticker shock steer you away! Unfortunately, I do have to say that I've tried Eden, since I was hoping it would be better for my oily lids. It's definitely not right for me and I need to figure out what I'm going to do with it. It doesn't last as long and doesn't make my shadows stand out as much as I'd like. I'll stick to the original. March 6, 2013
I can wear make-up in the summer again! I had subscribed to a beauty-bag service and loads of other subscribers keep taking about this primer potion stuff that they had received one month; I had decided to try it to see what all the hype was about. I thought it was just all talked up so I wanted to test it out as soon as it arrived and decided to wear it to a 30 min spin class. Let me just say that this stuff is NOT talked up; it really is great! My eyeshadow totally with stood the spin class! I just received my Primer Potion in both Eden and Sin about a week ago and I have been wearing one or the other every day since. Sin was slightly darker than I was expecting, but blended out, it’s just fine. It gives a slight simmer to my matte shadows that I like when I don’t want to wear something sparkly. There has been ZERO creasing or fading with my eye shadows! I love that HOURS after doing my make-up it looks just as great as when I first applied it. This summer will make my 3rd summer in south TX, and I have complete faith that I will be able to wear make-up during the hot and humid summer here; I am looking forward to my make-up not melting off in just a couple of hours! A little bit goes along way, add that to how well these primer potions work, there is no question about getting your money’s worth from this product. I WILL be buying more of these in the future; I just LOVE ‘em! April 23, 2012
Magic Potion There's a reason why this primer is an industry standard. Definitely the top performer among all the primers i've ever tried (high end and drugstore). Even the worst eyeshadows look amazing when placed over this product. It literally grabs the pigment and holds on ALL day until you intentionaly remove the makeup. Absolutley no creasing. No fading. No smudging. 24+ hours, through intense workouts, incredibly hot and humid weather, sleeping for 8+ hours... You name it, this product works through it. Works on all shadows, powder or even the creasiest creams. Put this on before concealer to keep the eye area crease free all day. Original/clear is great over any skintone. Eden is a pale flesh tone that works in lieu of concealer for quick out-the-door looks. Sin and Greed can be worn alone, too, to give a nice shimmer like pale champagne or gold shadows, or as a boost to anything you might put over them. The new squeeze tube packaging is a significant improvement over the old genie-bottle style. My only complaint is that if you screw the squeeze tube lid on *too* tight, you may break the tube at the base of the nozzle, thus allowing air inside and the product dries out slightly faster than normal. But this issue isn't all that major - just make sure that once the lid is on finger-tight, don't keep turning. ;P This product is definitely a must-have February 29, 2012
This is for the Original Primer Potion This thing is amazing. Yeah, yeah, you've read it all before. You see beauty gurus on youtube assuming you already have this product because, uh, how could you not? And yes, the hype is real. It is all true. It keeps your eyeshadows from budging, makes them stand out, partially makes you invincible. The bad? The other pigments. I know a few people who love the primer potion in Sin and Eden. I am NOT one of those people. My first primer potion was actually in Sin, because everywhere I went the Original was sold out. I liked SIn well enough. Did the job alright, but for $18 at the time, I thought it could do much better in New York summer heat. When I finally bought the Original after Sin ran out, I realize that the Original is the PERFECT formula. It did everything I wanted and more, and after that, I could no longer look at Sin the same way again. Eden came out a few years ago and I decided to try it, because while the Original was great, I wanted some pigment. Eden was terrible for me. I don't know if my eyelids are so oily that they like to test products and my patience, but Eden did not work and made me appear yellower than I normally am. So, do I recommend UDPP? A thousand times, yes! But only the original. if you want to try the colors, by all means go ahead, but I'm done doing that to myself and will stick to the good ol' fashioned stuff, thank you. This is THE primer I've been using UD's primer potions for at least 4 years now. The days of touching up eyeshadow mid-day are long gone. Eyeshadow stays vibrant and crease-free, and you can fall asleep in your eye makeup and it'll still be there in the morning (not that it's good for the rest of your face). My first experience was with the original, because that's all there was when I first tried it. Can't go wrong with the original, because it goes on invisibly. I'm so pleased that UD listened to every customer who asked for different packaging. While the old bottle was beautiful, it dried out too soon and so much product would still be left inside. My favorite is Eden. I like the matte finish and the fact that it has some coverage and color-correcting ability, because of the slight yellowish tone. It gives you a "your lids but better" look. Highlighting is optional. one caution, I have not seen Eden on darker skin tones. It works perfectly with my fair skin, but I am unsure if it would work for darker skin tones. I've received samples of Sin and Greed. They're both nice substitutes for highlighters, though Sin is better at hiding flaws than Greed. Greed is very sheer, but has a gorgeous "twinkling" quality. Not glittery, not the almost metallic shimmer of Sin. Sin definitely works as a highlight shade from lashline to brow bone for most skin tones, but can look a teensy bit too dark on my fair skin. My HG primer! I bought this product about two years ago I believe? And there's still plenty left (I don't use it everyday, but I have used it quite a lot and many friends have borrowed some, so I'd say it lasts- you don't need much each use!) Let me start off by saying I have the oiliest skin- EVER! And my eyelids are no exception. Eyeshadows always crease, eyeliner always smudges... it's always a mess. I've only ever tried a couple other eyeshadow primers before and I never actually owned them, only borrowed... good thing too because they never worked for me! But I borrowed this from a friend one day when we were getting ready for a party and I was so impressed. I am a very cheap person... but this worked so well, I didn't mind splurging haha (it also helped that I had a gift card from a friend lol) But honestly, I'd buy this again even without a gift card. I've done gone to dances, performed dance performances and all-day events wearing this and my eyeshadow stays in place perfectly with this stuff! I know a lot of people don't like the 'newer' packaging compared to the old stuff (I guess because they're just so used to it), but really.... the product you used to waste from the old packaging is ridiculous! So I'm glad they changed that! It's great stuff- light weight, you can get it in different types, easy to use and works wonders! I recommend it to anyone! (especially oily skin/eyelided people like me) March 5, 2013
Lasts Through Hours of Dancing When I use Primer Potion, my eyeshadow never ever creases, and my eyeliner never migrates, no matter what. I go to country bars/line dancing & two-stepping venues several times a week, usually for 4-6 hours at a time. It gets really hot and humid, what with all the hundreds of people packed into tiny spaces, and sweaty people touching each other, and yet my makeup stays put. As a matter of fact, most nights I come home and my makeup looks exactly as it did when I left the house. I never go dancing without it. The one thing that bothers me about this is the blendability of shadows over it. I always use a sheer wash of eyeshadow over it, from browbone to lashline, or else it's difficult to blend out lines. However, I have used the primer in Sin with just a crease color and had no problems, provided I use a really fluffy brush to apply. (Speaking of which, Sin is a great color. On it's own, with just a crease color, or with shadow all over, it's great. So versatile and pretty!) That aside, this stuff is a great value. I use just enough to give my lids a "slippery" feel- the silicone in the product creates smoothness, and then I know I've used just the right amount (about the size of a pinhead, if that). 11 ml is enough to last a really, really long time. I love the Original and Sin, but Eden and especially Greed run way too yellow for my tone. I've found that this is an issue with many Urban Decay products. I vote for some new colors for cooler-toned gals. February 1, 2012
I vow to never use another Primer....EVER!!! I have been using UD Potion Primer for 3 years and absolutely love it! I have tried other eye primers before (all the other fancy brands that shall not be named) and always after trying I can't escape using my Go-to-Primer...I just can't! I have used all the different UD formulas and love them all but my absolute favorite one is "Sin", it has a gorgeous gold luster that adds to any and every shadow combination you can think of and I'll admit...it totally works on any and every eyeshadow (including the drug store eyeshadows). I am definitely a glitz-shimmer-glitter type of gal and don't reaaly like matte eyeshadows....but ahhhh, that's the beauty of UD's Potion Primer "Sin"...because of the color it miraculously turns any boring matte eyeshadow into the perfect glam-glitz color I love!!! Also, I love the new packaging for UD's Primer Potions now, because I can squeeze out every bit of the product and in a pinch can cut the end of.the tube off and not ever waste a bit of my precious primer! It can be applied many different ways, finger application, sponge application, brush application, or my application of choice...using the wands from my smaller bottles of UD Primer Potions that come with many of the UD edition eyeshadow sets. The smaller wand allows me precise application...which I love. I would and have recommended this product to many people, friends, family, and even strangers, who have remarked on how beautiful my eyeshadow appears. Like I always tell them...it all starts with a good base! I <3 UD!!! February 25, 2012
Worth the hype! Let me be honest, about 6 years ago, I first tried this product, and I just couldn't figure out why people loved it so much. The primer (and eyeshadow) was just not going on the way I wanted it. So, I set it aside, and I tried other products. After a year of no luck, I decided to give it another shot. I sat in front of my mirror for a bit; after a few trial and errors, I figured out my problem - I was using way too much AND putting the eyeshadow too soon. Only using three small dabs, it was the perfect amount. Of course, it took a bit of practice for the eyeshadow, but after some time, I was able to figure that out too. The key is to know how long to let it sit after smoothing the primer on my lids - for me it took only a few seconds. The two things that I absolutely about this product: 1. how light and sheer it feels, and 2. the staying power! I'll use it in the morning, and at the end of the evening, my eyeshadow is STILL there. I've been complimented so many times on my eyeshadow and have been asked many times how it stays on for so long. So, I've been using this product for the past 5 years, and I absolutely LOVE this product. I was so excited when Sin came out. I absolutely LOVE that also. I use the original mainly for my eyeshadows, and I use Sin alone. The only thing that may have been a drawback was how messy the bottle can get. Some of the product can spill out on the side, etc. However, just like how the application took a bit of practice, trying to keep the product clean took a bit of practice as well. But in my opinion, this product is worth the messy self-education... :) February 13, 2012
Bad luck I always hear the hype about this product and always want to love it, but compared to Mac Paint Pots, I just can't love it because of all the bad luck I keep having with it! The first primer I owned was an XL sized primer (the original formula) in those bottles that required doe foot applicators. At first, I really liked the product. The primer worked very well for keeping my eyeshadows on, and I did notice a color difference in that they seemed more vibrant with the primer. However, one day my roommate accidentally knocked my primer over, and it rolled off of my desk, onto the hard tile floor, and broke. All the primer inside dried up, no matter how much I tried to save it, so it all went to waste. About a year after that happened, UD came out with the professional sized primers in the plastic tubes! I loved the concept so I bought it. Because it was a soft plastic tube, the same thing wouldn't happen again, right? Wrong! Instead of the side cracking, the applicator tip of the tube started cracking along the side, and again, a lot of the primer inside dried up considerably. I squeezed out all the salvageable primer into small pot containers so that I could try to keep it and use it. I find that because the formula applies so clear, it's difficult for me to tell when I haven't applied enough or when I've applied too much. Also, as I mentioned before, I find that my Mac Paint Pots do more for me and crease less often on my eyes compared to the UDPP. I think there really is a little too much hype surrounding this product, but I still like it (JUST like). I just find it difficult to love a product with a high price tag that keeps breaking on me. What would I do without this primer?? Urban Decay has created one of the most popular products known to beauty gurus and makeup lovers alike. This eyeshadow primer does what Urban Decay set out for it to do: smooths the surface of the eye, prepping it for shadows and liner; creates an even canvas to work with, masking discolorations; and keeps eye makeup long-lasting and on the eyelid without smudging, fading, or creasing. I have oily eyelids that get drier in the winter and this primer moisturizes my eyelid area yet keeps it smooth for eyeshadows so that they go on smoothly and don't crease. My first Eyeshadow Primer Potion was actually a gift from a friend, and she gave me the original formula in the purple vintage bottle; I have to say, I like the packaging of the squeezy tube a little bit better! The vintage bottle has a nice sponge applicator to apply directly on your eyelid, but with the squeezy tube, you can control how much product you want to apply. The tube also remains cleaner than the bottle, which is nice when you keep it in a cluttered makeup bag like me! I liked the original formula very much and plan on repurchasing it again when I run out of my Sin formula. The sin formula is pretty good if you want something with a little pigmentation. The color is a light, creamy matte flesh color, so it's great for covering red veigns that stand out in the eyelid. I personally prefer the Original over Sin because the original color blends into the natural color of your eyelid while smoothing out discoloration. It would match any skin tone, and is actually creamier than Sin, in my opinion. Both products are great, and I'm glad I tried Sin. Overall, I love this primer, and will call it my favorite eye primer! Thanks Urban Decay for being a genious with this product! :) February 2, 2012
Kissing my Too Faced Shadow Insurance Goodbye~ When I fist started taking my makeup seriously, I had originally decided to go with Too Faced because of the dollar difference at the time (was $17 compared to UD being $18 then). Having never used primer before, I figured it was alright. Before I knew it though, the product started becoming watery and greasy, which I found off putting. It wasn't until I purchased the Naked Palette that I first tried my little treasure of the original Primer Potion. I LOVE IT SO MUCH, that I bought Sin and Greed, which I feverishly try not to use up (its so pigmented you don't even need that much anyway) because I prize it so much. Here's my experience: -The original (from the sample I have in the mini genie bottle) goes on extremely light and completely disappears onto my lid. I love using it for my matte shadows (like in my Naked and Naked 2 Palettes) but you could totally use it for anything. I even rub some into my eyebrows so that when I fill them in, the color stays. Works like a charm, and I'm totally gonna invest in the full sized tube! -Sin is so beautiful! I love the champagne pigmented quality it has. It works great as a cream shadow on its own, or as a base to bump up the intensity of any shimmery shadow you lay on top of it. If you're gonna put a matte shade over it though, keep in mind that there'll be some visible flecks of glitter. -Greed is a serious yellow gold. Like Sin, its highly pigmented and great on its own or as a base. On my (medium/olive) skin tone, it shows up quite bright, which I can easily play down. I also prefer not to use lighter or frosty colors over the top because it has a tendency to make them appear white. It may not be the case with you, but just saying. Over all, I would definitely buy these again, and I've got my eye on Eden as my next purchase. Its my desire to own them all! February 17, 2012
Eyeshadows stick to this like bees to honey. The second I laid my eyes on the UD eye-shadow primer potion, it was already mine. It was sitting on the shelf looking so pretty and magical that I had to have it. I had heard so much about it from YouTube beauty gurus and I wanted the whole "24 hour lasting eye-shadow, more vibrant and crease-free" look for myself too. Before all these recommendations, I would always be so frustrated with my drug-store eye-shadows. They never showed up as vibrant as they looked, and my biggest problem was the eye-shadow slipping off my lids during a hot day and leaving creases. It looked so terrible! I went on about half a year having to touch up my eye-shadow everywhere I went, constantly checking to see if my eye-shadow had slipped or creased. I worked at a make up store for awhile and tried on their eye primer, but it made my eye-shadow slip even more. By the end of the day i looked like a drug taking raccoon. I even considered giving up on eye-shadows thinking maybe it couldn't work for me. At my local Sephora, I picked up a tester bottle and applied a small amount on my arm. After blending it out I smeared some UD eye-shadow on the part without the primer, it looked pretty, vibrant with good color payoff like all the UD eye-shadows. But when I applied the same color on the primer, it looked sharper somehow. That was enough to convince me to run to the cashier. I left it on the entire day and it still looked as amazing as when I first applied it. I was so excited to try it out the next day and test to see if it really would last as long as advertised. I obviously didn't wear it for 24 hours, but it lasted for a good 14 hours for me! I was under the hot Singapore sun almost the entire day for a fair, and was perspiring so badly. Without the UD primer, my eye-shadow would have been running down my cheeks by now but IT DIDN'T BUDGE. It still looked as though I just put my eye-shadow on. I was so glad because from that day on, I never had to check my make up every hour anymore. I could continue my entire day confident that my eye-shadow would stay and look vibrant all day. I have stuck to UD's eye primer ever since. The best thing about it is a little goes a long way. My first bottle lasted so long for me because all you need is just a thin coat. Its definitely worth the money. It is a must-have, unless looking like a raccoon is the new trend. April 19, 2012
Best Eyeshadow Primer on the market! This eye shadow primer works fantastically well (best eyeshadow primer i have ever used) works perfectly with any eye shadow, and makes the eyeshadow more pigmented, so even if you are working with a less pigmented eye shadow this eye shadow primer will make your eyeshadow have better pigmentation, it will not smudge, it will not fade, it will not crease, you will not have raccoon eyes, your eye shadow will stay put exactly the way you have put it on, throughout the day, and you will have no problems. I always use the original formula, or the matte formula since i have oily eyelids the matte formula works well for that, but i like both formulas and have had excellent eye shadow application since using this, this is my favorite and only eye shadow primer i will ever use. Once you use this no other eye shadow primer is comparable. You will never want to put on eye shadow without using this first, because it keeps your shadow on a long time, if your shadow lacks pigmentation, this will help with that. It just is unbelievably amazing to use, so all eye shadow lovers, this is the go to primer.... it just makes for flawless eyeshadow application, and i think it saves you money in terms of not needing to use so much eye shadow, you can use a smaller amount of eyeshadow when using this primer potion, you dont need to pound the eyeshadow on or use tons of it, to get the effect your looking for once you have this primer. It just makes eye shadow application easy, and so really you save money by not having to use so much eye shadow to get the desired look, and the eye shadow just works seamlessly with this primer, it makes eye shadow application so much easier with it then without it, and it lasts a very long time, and you dont have to ever worry about fixing your eye shadow throughout the day or creasing, or smudged eye shadow. Once using this product, its the one thing every makeup user should never be without, it is the HOLY GRAIL eye shadow primer. That is not just me saying this, there literally hundreds if not thousands of reviews on youtube of this eyeshadow primer, and every makeup guru or makeup lover considers this the best eye shadow primer out on the market today. Prior to using this i tried other primers and nothing is comparable to this, so since i used this product i have not been able to use anything else. Try it and see for yourself. It is a miracle worker. February 16, 2012

So I'm glad they changed that! It's great stuff- light weight, you can get it in different types, easy to use and works wonders! I recommend it to anyone!
