Versatile ~ Neutrals and Highly Pigmented Brights, all in one Palette!
This drool worthy palette is encased in a beautiful butterfly embossed tin with a small easy to handle eyeshadow shader brush. It would look lovely displayed on a vanity table. It is a great palette to buy as an introduction to Urban Decay Eyeshadows ~ it's got the neutrals and brights. If you already have UD shadows but are heavy on the neutral shades, this would be a fantastic addition because of the brights and the versatility. There are many ways to create different and exciting looks by mixing and matching. For example, there's no purple in this palette ~ No problem! Take a little "Haight" and mix with "Infamous" to create one. Skimp w/ a little "Infamous" is pink. "Skimp" with a little "Haight" is a soft but vivid aqua blue etc. etc. There are also bronze, gold, browns and grays that you can darken or lighten as you prefer. Be forewarned however, once you've experienced UD's superior quality shadows and gorgeous artistic packaging as a bonus ~ this palette will not be your first and last collection! Bwahahahaha!

My eyes are so beautiful and UD is to blame. Thanks UD you've brought out the best in me.

Awesome
I'm new to Urban Decay. I started using Urban Decay because of their eyeshadow palettes. So far I love every eye palette I have tried. I just tried this palette this morning and the colors work really well together and blend very nicely. I was actually pretty impressed by the brush that comes with this to because you can use the same brush to do eveything you need with your eye color without having to get different brushes which I think is great. I love the looks you can get with this eyeshadow palette too. The colors go on nice and smooth and with the primer potion applied first, your eyeshadow won't budge, smudge, flake, or crease all day. Love it. I'm totally a fan of Urban Decay now.

Urban Decay Shadows at Their Finest!
When it comes to high-fashion eyeshadow, Urban Decay's color selection, quality, and outright beauty are surpassed by none. One would be hard pressed to find anything negative posted to the virtual world of the internet about the Urban Decay brand as a whole.
The luminous colors encased in the gorgeous butterfly tin of the Mariposa Palette release an inferno of ecstasy every time you gaze inside. Every color in this collection is cooperatively sublime. With this collection you are only bound by your own limitations on creativity and imagination. Every single pot of color collaborates with one another. Whether you're creating a fabulously fun, color saturated look or designing a smoky, sexy look, the Mariposa Palette has it all! You can transform your eyes into a subtle, daytime exhibit of elegance or display an edgy twist on the nude eye. The photos couldn't possibly do this palette justice.
I realize that this palette was released quite some time ago but in my opinion the Mariposa Palette signaled the dawn of Urban Decay's coming of age, so to speak.
With colors like this it is difficult to pick a favorite. I do love Rockstar, which is a deep purple that speaks out with a sophisticated sheen. Infamous is a perverse pink full of luster - such a shame this isn't available individually as it makes the only other pink of it's class, Woodstock, look like rubbish. Haight is a blue that would make even the most ravishing mermaid envious. All of the colors in the Mariposa Palette are flawless. They have a velvety sheen and glide on smoothly, evenly, and magnificently. The brush included is perfect for this palette and is very high quality. You can't go wrong no matter what colors you choose to wear and you won't wind up with a face full of "teen" glitter or fallout as in other palettes, like we saw with the Skull Shadow Box.
I can go on and on and on about the Mariposa Palette but I'm sure you get the idea. Buy it now before it vanishes! You won't regret it; but I vow that if you are on the fence about this one you WILL regret not letting the Mariposa Palette into your life when it has disappeared forever. Whether you are an expert or a beginner, you can transform your eyes into a work of art! Let your eyes be your canvas.

Love Love Love!!
I received this pallet less then a week ago and I am so sold!!! The shadows are beautiful and very pigmented, builds easy for day to night looks! The brush that comes with it is actually pretty good quality too!! I will definitely buy again!!!

You're going to want to get more than one!
This is the best palette that I've ordered from Urban Decay. All the colours work really well with each other. Even colours that don't seem like they would blend well together really complement each other. This palette can do daytime neutrals or night time drama.
The brush is a good travel size brush for a makeup bag, but it doesn't really pick up the shadow too well. It blends great, but you might need a better brush to get the colour on your eyes.
I adore the tin that this palette comes in. With a little bit of crafting you can re-purpose it when the eyeshadow is all gone. This palette is bigger than it seems in the picture. I was surprised at the size and delighted at the amount of product you get for your money. You're going to want to stock up on these while you can. They're so universal that they would make excellent gifts!

Another Great Palette
I started to collect UD Palettes a few years ago. One of the reasons I chose to collect UD is because the pigment, designes & quality is ALWAYS the best! I can build up any eyeshadow and make it look amazing. This specific palette is a fun way to play out more smokey hints of purple or silverish looks. I like when the palettes come with actual brushes vs. the sponge applicators. This pallete does NOT come with a mirror so keep that in mind. I however don't mind because I rarely use the mirrors anyway. Over all, this is just another great buy at UD!

Good for people new to the brand...
If you already have a few palettes, you might want to skip this one. 6 of the ten colors are repeats from other sets, and the 4 "new" ones have what I call "sister" shades that are also found in other palettes. BUT, if you are new to the brand and want a decent variety of colors, this is a decent buy, especially at the discounted price.
I bought this along with a bunch of other UD products, and I have mixed feelings. The shadows are a little "off" in both texture and pigmentation from other palettes with the same colors. They swatch ALMOST the same. Maybe I just got a bum product. But these shadows just don't FEEL as rich and velvety as other palettes.
It IS a nice plus to get a brush in this set, since the UD brushes are so pricey. Now I know that the brushes I already have on hand work better for me than the one that came in this set.
Another reviewer mentioned re-purposing the cardboard packaging, and I have re-purposed mine as well as a vanity try so I have somewhere to drop my keys and phone when I walk in the door. It looks so pretty on the hallway table, flanked by a couple candles. Once you use this palette up, you can remove the cardboard insert from the metal case and re-purpose that as well, maybe as a jewelry box or to store movie ticket stubs (I am way too sentimental! Lol).

Blue eyed girls, buy this now!
This is a perfect starter palette and gives you a ton of options for different looks. I have fair skin and dark hair, so I like a little pop of color on my lids but I have to be careful not to end up looking like a vampire clown. There are plenty of neutrals (skimp, limelight, spotlight, wreckage, mushroom), some almost-neutrals (money, gunmetal, rockstar) and the two brights (Haight and infamous). To me, this is a slightly more colorful version of Naked 2. I love my rockstar eyeliner, so having the shadow is a nice addition. I've done a color wash with the brights over a neutral eye, and even lined with Haight.
The mini brush also really sold it for me - similar to the brush in Naked2, and it fits in the eyeliner spot in my Roller Girl palette for another on-the-go option.
I docked it a star on ease of use because the tin isn't the easiest to open, but if you push in on the indent on the bottom tray, it'll pop right open.

Not my fave, but beautiful packaging
I wanted to like this palette so badly, but after multiple tries, I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that this is not suited to my cool toned pale skin or my Blonde hair and blue eyes. The tin is so beautiful, I'm toying with the idea of using it as a container for deported shadows. The colors would probably be lovely for someone with brown eyed.

So many possibilities in this palette!
I love this palette. I reach for it when I want something fun and unexpected! Skimp is one of my all time favorite shades for blending and highlighting. It's perfect for my skin tone. My favorite look is Mushroom all over the lid with Gunmetal in the outer V and black liner. Seriously, Mushroom is such a cool color. Money is a pretty sage green shimmer that is a lot more versatile than you might think. It seems to bring out the color of my eyes when I use it with a green liner, just really pretty. Spotlight and Wreckage are gorgeous together as a neutral look with that extra bit of glam as they have a nice lustrous sheen when all blended. Limelight is so pretty with just black liquid liner and a red lip, it's my go to gold. Limelight and Infamous are really pretty blended together with Infamous in the outer V of the eye and blended in. Haight is a true peacock blue which is a lot of fun, I like to use it on top of black liner for just a splash of color. Rock star is a kind of grape color and I haven't really played with it yet. Colors are nicely pigmented for the most part. I wish that Infamous was a little punchier, but it serves its purpose. The brighter colors seem to have more fallout and are a little tougher to blend, but it wouldn't deter me from purchasing again. This palette is great for adding that extra oomph to every day looks. I can see myself using these beautiful colors often in the summer for some reason. Lots of sexy, dramatic looks here!

LOVE!!!
Everything about this product was perfect!! (For me anyways). The fact I was able to pick this one up on sale was just the icing on top. Color pay off way outstanding (as always), and I personally fell in love with the color selection. The brush & packing are very nice quality. I will definitely be purchasing more palates in the future.

First review
I have several palettes but never reviewed any. This one is my favorite! Just got it haven't used all the colors but was surprised how much I love limelight thinking I wouldn't use it as much. It's a stand out color and I like color. But my favorite so far is money! Hope that UD will bring it out as single bc I am thinking of buying a second palette just for this color. I love greens and blue. Own many singles from UD but this beats out rest for me. All the colors are so pretty and this palette at this price is a must!

variety of colors
I just bought this pallet last week and I love it. There is a variety of colors to chose from. I was expecting the pallet to be smaller so I was surprised when it was delivered but it's still a good size. I like that it comes with a real brush and not that sponge stuff. Definitely worth the price.

GORGEOUS COLORS in A GORGEOUS PACK
WOW, what an extraordinary value for EXQUISITE colors! MARIPOSA Palette comes with 10 buttery soft eyeshadows + a brush that can creat versatile eye looks: from neutral and romantic to smokey eyes. This set gives incredible color payoff and high-quality texture, a MUST HAVE for every season!

Romance is in the air <3
I'm a huge fan of neutral eyes that accent someone's natural beauty. This palette was so easy to fall in love with because the selection of colors are very soft and feminine. You can mix & match easily from this one palette AND you have your highlighter to finish the look.
The colors are perfectly pigmented and there is hardly any fall out. The brush that's included is short and stiff, perfect for adding the highlight color in the inner corners of your eyes.
I loved this palette so much that I picked one up for my younger sister ^_^
The only thing that I wasn't happy about this product was the metal packaging that it comes in. It's a cute box, but it's difficult to open .. I had to struggle for a minute or two trying to open it. Other than that, I would recommend this product.
March 8, 2013
Perfect palette!
I absolutely love this palette! I'm really picky with the colors I wear on my eyes, as certain colors like brown and black do not suit me. The colors in this palette are great because there is a good selection of neutrals that are subtle and wearable for everyday use, as well as a few beautiful shades in case you're in the mood for a little pop of color! Pigmentation is great and it is really easy to apply!
For the sale price, this product is a steal!
Only con: The packaging is a little tricky to open!
March 6, 2013
really nice palette
this palette has so much color selection and the colors really are beautiful colors. I had been wanting to get this for a while and I really though it was a good opportunity to do so when it went on sale so I did, and I glad I did this is a purchase you wont regret.

Small simple palette
I love all the colors in this palette. I chose it because I have so many neutral palettes I wanted some variety. I thought the palette was going to be larger when I saw the picture online but the palette is very travel friendly and the tin is very sturdy. The brush that it comes with is extremely small compared to the one in the Naked palettes but I always use my own brushes anyways. Overall, great quality and great price. Urban Decay does eyeshadows very well. If you like the colors, I recommend it.
March 11, 2013
Wow!!
This palette is truly amazing. You can make tons of looks like natural and colorful. The packaging is great and is so easy to travel with. The shadows are a bit small but I don't think I'll be running out because its so pigmented that I don't need to be using a lot of product. The brush is so cute and small! It's not the greatest for eyeshadow but it seems like a great concealer brush. But the shadows are so smooth and creamy feeling. I love this so much and I use it everyday

Best palette I own
So I always buy UD eyeshadow singles because I like picking and choosing which colors I like. However, I've always had trouble matching colors together. This palette completely takes the guess work out of it. It has the perfect combination of neutrals and colors that you can use for day and night looks. The quality is phenomenal as usual. My favorites are Money (which some people do not prefer but I think the green/blue duotone looks lovely on hazel eyes) and Mushroom. I also love how Gunmetal is more of a dark grey with less of a blue undertone. From what I have heard UD designed the colors in sets of fours so you know which colors mix well together. This is honestly my favorite palette, I hope they don't discontinue it forever! My only qualm is that my butterfly case had scratches on it when it came in the mail :(
March 25, 2013
This palette is great
The colors are beautiful. They go on well, barely any fallout, and last all day with a little primer. My only complaint is it wasnt the best palette for me and my eyes and skin tone. Should have chosen to make my own palette now that there available.
I like to get use of all colors in a plaette and even though I love all the colors it makes me sad not to be able to use all of them.
I would recommend this palette to anyone that wanted to try it. Its worth the money.
March 5, 2013
Great color selection!
I haven't had this pallet for long, but I think Gunmetal and Skimp will be my favorites!! Will definitely experiment with others as well. Great price for the product, and something I can actually afford as a college student. The only thing I really hate about it is the brush; I feel like it doesn't pick up the shadows at all, and I have to keep getting more eye-shadow on my brush multiple times. But other than that, an over-all great product for anyone!!
March 5, 2013
UD's palettes always please!
The Mariposa palette has a wonderful selection of colors, ranging from neutral tones to blues and purples. I can use this palette for almost any occasion, if I'm headed to work and need something subdued, or headed out for the day and want to get a little fancy. Great products, great amounts of each for the price. The only thing that irked me about this palette is that opening it can be difficult with the way it's built, but that's pretty minor.

Perfect for Spring!
I have naked palette, which is very good for every day make-up. But sometimes, I crave for some colors, so I've been looking for a good palette with wearable color selections. I tend to do more of smoky type of make-up, so I always look for variety of kind of darker hues, but since I also have Smoked palette, I didn't want all dark, all the way smokey colors, but something I can wear lightly.
And I came across with this palette. I love how it has different shades of similar colors. One light and one darker shades of grey, blue, pink/purple, yellow/brown, and nudes. It's easy to match colors for light smokey makeup that is not all grey-black, but with some colors. I think I'm gonna use a lot of this for upcoming spring.
I also like the size of this palette. It's pocket-sized, but each color has considerably good amount of product in it.
Overall, I love this!
March 6, 2013
LOVE
I was surprised at how much I absolutely LOVE this selection of colors! There are some beautiful neutrals that are perfect for work and then some absolutely wonderful colors to switch to night time. I love all the taupy browns and soft peach and the green. The pigments are rich and go on so smooth. I am never disapointed with UD but was so glad I bought this one. I use it at least every other day, which is a lot for me.

Fun, Good for Day and Night Use
I picked this puppy up as soon as I realized it was on sale. When I first saw it, I fell in love with it. Probably one of my favorite things is that it contains Infamous and Haight, both of which I had considered buying as singles.
The only reason I didn't give it a perfect five on everything is because a lot of the colors are really similar. I tried using Money, Mushroom, and Gunmetal in swatches on my lid, but they all blended together (in a bad way) and it looked like I was wearing one color. Also, I had a duplicate Gunmetal from the Naked Palette.
Fortunately, I have been able to create really nice gradient looks with Infamous (next to Fishnet (new), Grifter (vintage), and Freakshow (deluxe)) and Haight (next to Shattered (vintage), Dashiki (vintage), and Evidence (new).) I also use Skimp to highlight often, especially when I'm wearing grays, blacks, and silvers.
March 5, 2013
Excellent blend of day to night colors
I was nervous when i first got this palette since i have some of the colors in other palette already but there were some colors i really wanted to try. Colors are incredible together and blend nicely. This will make a great first palette to someone trying UD for the first time.
I love the tin. It makes it for ease of travel and the brush is so handy for quick touch ups or application.
I only wish it had a mirror :3

Exciting neutrals
Ok, so the product description says that these colors are "never-boring neutrals." I don't know that I would call them all neutrals, but they are definitely not boring! I would say this is THE must-have palette from Urban Decay if you want more color than is provided by the NAKED and NAKED 2 palettes (which are great too though!). This is also one of the best priced Urban Decay palettes available when on sale!

Only con: The packaging is a little tricky to open!

really nice palette
this palette has so much color selection and the colors really are beautiful colors.
