WGEF

WOMEN'S GLOBAL EMPOWERMENT FUND

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Women's Global Empowerment Fund provides women in post-conflict Uganda with microloans and a broad range of leadership development and education programs. This helps the women to gain economic stability and independence while rebuilding their lives and communities. WGEF creates opportunities while addressing inequality, strengthening families and building communities.

WHAT WE'VE ACCOMPLISHED TOGETHER
Our partnership has provided more than 5,600 microloans and agro loans and business training to women; enabled more than 2,300 women to participate in literacy programs; helped ensure women have “a seat at the policy table”; increased food security for families and communities; launched and fully funded the Healthy Periods Initiative to address the issues of menstrual health and management; helped launch Women's Assembly Hour, reaching more than 1.2 million listeners in its first year; paved the way for 250 women to participate in the 2017 Drama Festival; and opened Gulu Women's Resource Centre, the only resource of its kind in the entire region.
